With its fiery drama and iconic music, Carmen never ceases to thrill. In this reimagined version, choreographer Johan Inger delves into the passions and dark undercurrents of the story, bringing new resonance to the timeless tale. Sensual and spirited, Carmen captivates Don José, but when she refuses his control, jealousy and rage lead him towards tragedy. Combining contemporary and classical movement, Inger’s choreography unfolds through nine movable mirrors, transporting us from a town square into Don José’s troubled mind. Additional music by Marc Alvarez heightens the sense of menace alongside Bizet and Shchedrin’s score, performed live by English National Ballet Philharmonic.
