SEPTEMBER 21, 2024 – PRO LUCE

21.09.24 – 23h – Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ter Duinenkerk, Mariakerke

When James Ensor was raised to the peerage in 1929, he chose as his motto of arms “Pro Luce Nobilis Sum,” which is appropriate given his play with light inspired by the sunsets in Ostend. In the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ter Duinenkerkerk in Mariakerke, where Ensor is buried, Casco Phil will pay tribute to him with a concert, including the occasional work “Pro Luce” by Benjamin Haemhouts, to conclude the James Ensor Year 2024.

Program:
Orlando di Lasso (arr. Haemhouts) – La Nuit Froide et Sombre
Philip Glass – Opening
Maurice Ravel – String Quartet in F, I. Allegro Moderato
Claude Debussy – String Quartet in G, op. 10, II. Assez vif et bien rythmé.
Benjamin Haemhouts – Pro Luce (World Premiere)
