Beethoven werd 251 jaar geleden geboren en zijn werk resoneert nog altijd bij hedendaagse componisten. We beginnen deze avond met een frisse dronk: Frederik Neyrinck stelt een nieuw koorwerk voor, met tekst uit het eerste artikel van de Universele Verklaring van de Rechten van de Mens en de revolutionaire idealen waar Beethoven hartstochtelijk in geloofde. Daarna is het tijd voor de negende, want Beethovens laatste symfonie is zo monumentaal dat het telwoord genoeg zegt. Deze Ode aan de Vreugde is bijna tweehonderd jaar oud en bijzonder geschikt voor langdurige rijping.<\/p>\n
