20 Mar 19 Mar 2017 – Mozart meets Piazzolla – Deurne
Combining Piazzolla and Mozart?
The Casco Phil wind octet crosses frontiers in this adventurous and above all enticing programme. It features the best of what both composers have to offer: Mozart’s Serenade for Winds is contrasted with Piazzolla’s Libertango, and the festive sounds of the Don Giovanni Suite will become one with a wall of nuevo tango sound like Obliviòn.
As icing on the cake, we asked Anthony Gröger, cellist with Casco Phil, to literally make Mozart’s Viennese classic meld with the sultry Argentine tango. You’ll hear the astounding results in his MozAstoRTión.
